Q. I have a Ubuntu Linux box setup as a file server in my home office. I use some of this space to store avi files which is shared using Samba. I can then access these files using my Windows Media Center in the den and through an XBox in the living room. I want to put another media player in the bedroom but I don't want a clunky XBox or full PC hooked up to the bedroom TV. Plus, I don't want to spend a fortune.
I've looked at the D-Link MediaLounge (DSM-520), but I don't think this streams media from a Samba share, only from another Media PC. But, I like the look of this device. Can someone give me suggestions on similar products or a cheap way to build my own.
Thanks!

A. You could get a really small computer with a via cpu, they suck for anything more demanding than what you are imagining.
However, you could buy an Archos 604 G with wifi. This allows you to stream media files over a wireless network and you can buy a tv docking pod for another $100 or less (depending which one you get). The device itself would cost around $400 but it is very capable media player with a 4 inch touch screen.
Hope that helps.

A. Hi, yeah this is what u need to do for all Linux distributions.
You need a root partition where Linux will be installed. You need a home partition which will contain all ur music, files, etc, and ur own programs. You need a swap partition which is used as extra ram. Delete all partitions on ur hard disk and lets say u have an 100gb hard disk.
1.make 20gb partition with ext3 file system with mount point "/", this is ur root partition where Linux will be installed.
2.make 78 gb partition with ext3 file system with mount point "/home" where all ur stuff will be.
3.make a swap partition of remaining 2 gb with mount point "swap". Usually when making a swap partition people usually multiply their ram with 2 for example if u have 1gb ram u multiply with 2 and u need a 2gb swap partition how ever if u want to save space then 2gb is what I usually use.
I hope I helped.
Good Luck!

How to paly xbox game with computer?
Q. I bought a xbox game but it can't play in the computer. Is any sofeware I need to install?
A. Actually there are 2 emulators that i found that you can make it so that you can play your xbox games (not 360 games) on your pc from http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/xbox/ but you may acctually be better of just modding your xbox and loading it with linux with the Mechassult game save and an original copy of the game that you can get from actionreplay. Then you'd have an xbox thats a media center pc needless to say if you do that you'd be voiding your warenty if you even still have one but its well worth it.
